The leaders of the United States (US), France, Germany, Italy and the UK expressed their support for Israel.
US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, German President Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak issued a joint statement after a meeting to discuss the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The leaders reiterated their strong support for Israel and their firm condemnation of Hamas.
Asserting that they will support Israel’s efforts to protect itself and its people, the leaders warned that any entity hostile to the country should not take advantage of the attacks. Statement by Western Leaders:
“In the coming days, we will stand together as Israel’s mutual allies and friends, affirming Israel’s potential and ultimately creating the conditions for a peaceful and unified Middle East region,” he said.
Hamas’ military wing, the Qassam Brigades, launched Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” against Israel on Saturday. Thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza towards Israel as armed groups entered the region’s settlements.
The Israeli army also announced the launch of “Operation Iron Sword” in the Gaza Strip with its warplanes.
Hundreds of people have been injured on both sides as tension escalated.
