Anita honored in the US: ‘I just wanted to be free’ | entertainment

Anita represented Brazil at the “Power of Women” event, promoted by Variety magazine, on Thursday (02.05), in New York, United States, and attracted attention with her speech.

Singer Anita is one of the honorees at the ceremony, along with Mariska Hargitay (from Law & Order: SVU), Shonda Rhimes, and Amy Schumer. The lunch celebrates the charitable work of the honorees, who are also featured on separate covers of the print edition of the magazine.

In her speech, Anita reflected on her big dreams while growing up in the slums, where she said people were “treated like trash” in Brazil.

“We are born believing that these things are not possible for us, because we do not have them. There is no structure. There are no opportunities,” Anita said in her speech. “We are born and raised in the ghetto in this country… We do not have the tools that we should.” To be in all the places we dream of.”

“There were a lot of rules. There were a lot of rules about how to be a woman, how to behave, how to find the best husband, how to look good in the public eye, how to be the nice girl that everyone wants to marry,” Anita said. “And I didn’t I was that person. “I wanted to shake my ass, I wanted to be free, I wanted to make my own money.”
