Minister visits Campinas to attend the inaugural class of CNPEM School – Hora Campinas

The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Marcos Pontes, will be in Campinas on Monday (7) to accompany the start of the activities of the first semester of the Illum School of Sciences, affiliated with the National Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM). The inaugural class will be delivered to 40 students who have been approved for a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology and Innovation. The ceremony is scheduled for 4 pm.

Ilum is a free school of higher education and was launched last year at the initiative of CNPEM. Innovative, emerged with the aim of training, within three years and with full-time classes, a new generation of scholars in an interdisciplinary manner and an active teaching methodology. Students will have a solid theoretical foundation, combined with practice in the school’s state-of-the-art teaching laboratories and immersion in CNPEM.

Half of the places are reserved for students coming from public schools.

The number of candidates registered in the selection process reached 943 candidates. Of this total, 72.6% were enrolled in high school in public schools. The list of approved forty gathered students from all regions of the country and women were the majority of those selected.
