Marianna Budanova, wife of the head of the Military Intelligence Service (GUR). UkraineKirilo Budanov is receiving treatment after suffering heavy metal poisoning, a source familiar with the case told Ukrainian state news agency Ukrinform.
“Mariana Budanova was poisoned with heavy metals. She is receiving treatment,” the unnamed source told the agency.
The Ukrainian military intelligence did not deny this information and will comment on the case soon, the press service of GUR told Ukrinform.
On the other hand, a source in military intelligence explained to the Ukrainian newspaper “Babylon” that Mariana Budanova is in the hospital, where she was admitted after a “long deterioration” in her health condition.
The source added that the materials found in the woman’s body “are not used in any way in daily life or for military purposes,” and “their presence indicates an attempt to intentionally poison a specific person.”
Kirillo Budanov has already implicitly acknowledged the responsibility of the agency he heads in several actions inside Russia against military targets and high-ranking Russian officials.
Russian agents were behind the poisoning killings of several opponents in recent years.
