The selection process included 943 applicants and half of the vacancies are reserved for public school students. Registration must take place online or in person at the School Secretary between 3 and 6 March. The organization said that lessons begin on March 7.

Three elements were considered to make up the final grade: expression of interest in studying science sent by students at the time of enrollment, grading in Enem and individual interview. Half of the opportunities are reserved for public school students.

All accredited students are entitled to free housing, food, and transportation during the course. On the first day of class, each student will receive a modern laptop, already equipped with all the necessary software for academic activities. Whoever demonstrates social and economic need will also bear the cost of the trip to Campinas (SP) paid by Ilum.

The Ilum is located in a building in the Santa Cândida neighborhood, in Campinas, where in the 1980s researchers began developing the first Brazilian electron accelerator, UVX, which was recently replaced by Sirius. The building was renovated to house the science school.

According to CNPEM, the syllabus will cover the following areas: Mathematical languages. Life sciences, material sciences, humanities and entrepreneurship.

In the first two years, there will be theoretical and practical classes in the Ilum headquarters building with progressive immersion in CNPEM, while the third year will be devoted exclusively to project development.
