Insomniac regrets the attack but guarantees the production of “Wolverine”

Insomniac has issued an official statement following losses from a ransomware attack that exposed confidential internal files this week. Among the leaked materials is a playable version of “Marvel’s Wolverine,” a title still in development.

The attack was claimed by a hacker group known as Ryshida, which attempted to sell the data on internet forums. However, apparently after failing to find a buyer willing to pay the equivalent of US$2 million in bitcoins, about 1.17 terabytes were released online.

Among the leaked materials there was a release calendar for the next ten years, budget statements, business plans and projects in development. “We are saddened and outraged by the recent criminal cyber attack on our studio and the emotional impact it has had on our team,” Insomniac said in a statement.

Furthermore, the studio confirmed that production of the Wolverine game, despite being significantly affected by the cyberattack, will continue and confirmed that it will share new information as development progresses.

“Just like Logan… Insomniac is flexible. Marvel’s Wolverine continues as planned. The game is in production and has undoubtedly evolved throughout development, as have all of our plans. We will share official information about Marvel’s Wolverine when the time is right.”

Marvel’s Wolverine game structure leaked

To deal with the playable version of “Marvel’s Wolverine” circulating on the Internet, the company is notifying people who illegally obtain it outside the jurisdiction. However, the company is prepared to take legal action if the issue is not resolved.

The PC version was found in a leaked set of files, and is still incomplete and will have to change a lot before the game’s official launch. However, some information reveals that it has been used for internal testing by the developers. They give a good idea of what the game will be like in the future.
