Max Verstappen’s dominance in Formula One 2023 is evident not only in the marks and records, but also in the clearance achieved during a Grand Prix: it is common to see the Dutchman win by several seconds from second place. Sometimes such dominance makes the three-time champion feel bored during races – at least in the opinion of Gianpiero Lambiasi, the engineer responsible for RBR’s driver communication since May 2016.
– Sometimes I feel that you (Verstappen) are basically bored. I think that even if we were 30 seconds ahead, I would still be “in the zone”, trying to maximize everything and take everything seriously. Meanwhile, I think at this point he (Max) actually lost a bit of interest and said ‘seriously, GP, relax a bit’ – Lambiasi said on Talking Bull.
– Of course, respect is very important, but sometimes people do not understand the type of relationship between you. If we (talk) on the radio and don’t sound a bit annoyed or annoyed, they’ll think we’re fighting. But that is not the case – said Verstappen, adding:
– We want the best, and of course sometimes I raise my voice on the radio, (I’m) full of adrenaline like a pilot. GP (Gianpiero) also wants the best, which is why we sometimes have conversations that catch fire. This is how I like to approach the weekend, and our rides. If I was upset about a situation, and he (responded) “I see, thanks for the message” I would be “what’s going on?”
