Brazil 2023 Championship: Find out the 20 confirmed clubs

The 2022 Brazilian football season ended on Sunday (11/13). The eight clubs that have qualified for the Copa Libertadores have already been determined, six have spots in Sud Americana and those that will play in the First Division next year. See below all 20 clubs guaranteed in the First Division Football League of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Cruzeiro, the second division champion with seven rounds remaining, is back in the national elite three years later. In addition to Raposa, Grmio, Bahia and Vasco also ascended. These teams join 16 others who competed in Sri A in 2022.

Palmeiras was the biggest winner of this year’s tournament. Verdu left the competition and won the cup four games ahead of schedule. The victory gave São Paulo the right to compete in the Libertadores once again.

In addition to the team led by Abel Ferreira, Internacional (second place), Fluminense (third), Corinthians (fourth), Flamengo (fifth) and Atlético PR (sixth) secured a direct place in the group stage of the main international competition. . Completing the Group of Eight, Atletico (7th) and Fortaleza (eighth) will start the dispute in the previous stages.

Six other clubs also managed to secure a place in the upcoming Sudamericana Championship. Only they are: Sue Paulo (ninth), America (10th), Botafogo (11th), Santos (12th), Joyce (13th) and Red Bull Bragantino (14th).

In contrast, Curitiba (15) and Quip (16) remained in the elite, but did not win a place in international competitions.

The most competitive?

Apparently, the 2023 Series A promises to be more competitive than it was this year. Of the 20 confirmed teams, 15 have already lifted the trophy.

In its official data, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) counts 17 first-division champions, taking into account the tournaments played since 1959 – of which Bahia was the first champion.

In the 2023 edition, 15 of these winning clubs will play together in Brazil, a fact that has not happened since 2020. The only national teams that will not participate in the tournament are Sport and Guarani, both of which are in the second division.
