Bolivia de Aviacion has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330-200, which is expected to fly to São Paulo

The first Airbus A330-200 from Boliviana de Aviacion arrived in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, at 1:07 am on Wednesday. The aircraft in question is part of an agreement with Airbus for three A330s announced during the 2022 International Air and Space Show (FIDAE), which is being held in Chile.

The first aircraft involved will have registration CP-3209. Previously worked for Virgin Australia since September 2014. The A330 departed from Chateauroux, France, with flight assignment OB-6901, Inform the airline.

The initial agreement, from April 2022, had three Airbus A330-200s between 10 and 8 years. All Airbus aircraft will be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent engines. The A330s were due to be delivered in October 2022, but the delays were due to maintenance, repair and maintenance services and supply chain issues that have plagued the sector globally.

Ronald Casso, general manager of Boliviana de Aviación, told Aviacionline during the ALTA Forum last October that three Airbus A330-200s are undergoing maintenance in three different cities.

CP-3209 was delivered this morning in Birmingham, UK between May and November 2022 at the MRO Centre. Like the first, there was a second A330 in Naples, Italy, between September 2022 and January 2023. The two aforementioned A330s left the maintenance center, but had to be stored in San Bernardino (California) and Châteauroux (France) due to the lack of foreign exchange transiting Bolivia.

The arrival of the A330 means the renewal of BoA’s long-haul fleet, which includes four Boeing 767-300ERs over 28 years old. The A330 will mainly fly to Madrid, Miami, Sao Paulo/Guarulhos and Buenos Aires.
