A major fire broke out in a 14-storey apartment building in the Campanar neighborhood, in the city of Valencia, Spain, this Thursday afternoon (22), which was “engulfed” by flames and smoke.

According to El Pais newspaper, the fire consumed the entire building, located between Maestro Rodrigo and Poeta Rafael Alberti Streets, within half an hour. It would have been built in the early 2000s.

The number of victims is not yet known. It is only known that firefighters were trying to rescue residents from balconies, and that a field hospital was being set up nearby, with support from the military emergency unit.

At least seven people have already been transferred to hospital units, including two firefighters and a minor.
