A 25-year-old Israeli woman was hailed as a hero after she led residents of a kibbutz, one kilometer from the Gaza Strip, to fight against terrorists during a Hamas offensive against Israel. Inbar Lieberman helped coordinate defensive actions that killed more than 20 Hamas extremists and prevented a massacre in the town of Nir Am.

Last Saturday, Hamas terrorists advanced into Israeli territory, in land and sea invasions, via missiles and parachutes, in a surprise attack that killed more than 1,200 Israelis and injured 2,700 others. According to British media, such as “The Sun” and “Daily Mail”, upon noticing the arrival of extremists, Inbar distributed weapons to the residents of the community, which has a population of only 700 people.

At the time of the attack, Nir Am had only one security team, with 12 members. She armed volunteers and directed them to strategic locations throughout the community. Inbar personally killed five Hamas terrorists and led other residents to slaughter more than 20 people during a four-hour siege.

In an interview with the “Israel Hayom” website, a resident of Ilet Paz praised the actions that she considered “decisive” for the 25-year-old girl.

– It was amazing. My husband was part of the reserve unit that worked to prevent deaths. They heard gunshots and contacted other members of the reserve unit and Inbar on their own. They were told to be alert, but Inbar decided not to wait. In fact, the fact that they did so early prevented dozens of casualties.

The local newspaper Maariv Daily praised Inbar’s courage and stressed the need to decorate her.

The newspaper said, “The story of his heroism is a story that will remain in Israeli traditions for many generations.”

Kibbutz Inbar managed to survive the invasion almost unscathed. But other communities recorded dozens of deaths. Israeli soldiers found about 40 dead infants and children in the town of Kfar Azza, which was attacked by Hamas on Saturday, according to a local TV channel that visited the area on Tuesday.
