Reuters Arab foreign ministers concluded their emergency meeting on Wednesday to highlight the importance of Israel complying with its obligations under international law as an occupying power with regard to the Palestinians.

The Undersecretary of the Arab League said in the final statement of the emergency meeting in Cairo, “We stress the importance of resuming the peace process and starting serious negotiations between the Palestine Liberation Organization and Israel.”

Israel was subjected to an unprecedented missile attack from the Gaza Strip last Saturday morning. The Israeli army said that Hamas fired more than 3,000 rockets, adding that dozens of Hamas forces infiltrated the border areas in southern Israel.

Since then, the Israeli army sent its forces to the southern regions to reclaim them from Palestinian forces and began carrying out attacks against Hamas positions in Gaza.
