What is “badam badam”? Kylie Minogue has gone viral on TikTok with a new song – Capricho

Badam? Badam! With a bubblegum chorus, the new song by Aussie Kylie Minogue It’s a real hit. The singer’s first single in the new era went viral as a vocal Tik Tok And it produces a lot of fun memes and videos on social media.

Taking advantage of the virus, Kylie posted on her Instagram profile the official cover of the new album and the track list for it. “This album is a mixture of personal reflections, lonely leads and sad peaks. I felt a lot of freedom when I recorded it, and I hope you like it,” the singer wrote in the caption.

And look at this: the song was barely released and has already appeared in the Top 5 on iTunes – a platform that’s hugely popular there in the US and Europe – and proves that this is the singer’s best UK debut in nearly a decade, see? And oh, the music video has already had nearly 4.5 million views.

But after all, capricho, what does “badam” mean?

It’s simple: the expression is an onomatopoeia that mimics a heartbeat, the same “tumor” we use here in Brazil. And do you know who actually named a song like that? None other than French singer Edith Piaf. In 1951 she released a song of the same name – The Inspiration That Speaks, Doesn’t It?

Legacy of Kylie Minogue

With the virus, many people who didn’t know the artist were curious. Kylie Minogue is one of the biggest artists in the pop world, and yes, she’s right next to Madonna when it comes to inspiration. No wonder she is considered the “Pop Princess” in her native Australia.
