US authorizes Chevron to extract oil from Venezuela

The license came after Nicolás Maduro’s government and the opposition resumed a humanitarian accord

The United States on Saturday (Nov. 26, 2022) authorized Chevron Corporation to resume limited oil extraction operations in Venezuela. The US government said the action “Provides relief from obstructions” imposed on the country.

The decision comes after Nicolás Maduro and the United Platform government, which opposes the current administration, announced a humanitarian agreement to benefit the Venezuelan people to resume negotiations for the 2024 elections.
