The exchange has issued 13 new ETF BDRs for small investors

The individual investor won 13 new options for international diversification on Monday (6), with BDRs (Brazilian Depository Receiptsreceipts for assets listed abroad) backed by ETFs (Index funds).

Eight of these are BDRs from international fixed income ETFs, which give investors access to each of the United States’ sovereign debt, through a basket of treasury bonds (also called state government bonds) as well as US corporate debt securities.

The remaining five assets are BDRs from variable income ETFs, which replicate global financial indicators, with theses such as Lowercase lettersand large-cap stocks on the S&P 500 and developed markets.

All ETF credit cards are branded iShares, launched by Banco B3 in partnership with global manager BlackRock. Previously, these assets were available only to qualified investors – with an investment of more than R$1 million.

According to Luís Kodic, executive director of products and data at B3, the issuance of retail BDRs ETFs offers new opportunities for local investors. It highlights that there are currently 79 BDR ETFs available to individual investors on the exchange, facilitating access to international fixed income and variable income.

“Our goal is to expand the range of products available to clients so that they can increasingly diversify their portfolio and investment strategies,” says Kodic.

For Karina Saade, President of BlackRock in Brazil, the manager’s understanding is that ETFs BDRs are a cheap and simple way to access global markets efficiently. “BlackRock’s intent is to continue to bring in new asset classes and exposures so that individual and institutional investors can build a complete international portfolio with ETFs,” he says.
