The Department of Education of Jaranhons holds the Municipal Science and Technology Week

On Monday (16), the Department of Education of Jaranhons started the programming of the Municipal Science and Technology Week. The official opening took place at Colégio Padre Agobar Valença and included a lecture and special performances. Until next Friday, many activities will be implemented in municipal educational units.

The Science and Technology Week of the Municipality of Jaranhones was established by Municipal Law No. 4,691/2020. Under the slogan “Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development,” the proposal aims to provide opportunities for research and discussions on the important role of science in building modern societies and to encourage and disseminate the daily work of students and teachers.

The program followed students, teachers and school administrators, highlighting the lecture “Where Science Takes Us” by Professor Dr. Rosangela Falcao. The night devoted moments to scientific experiments with students of Escola José Brasileiro Vila Nova, who used items from the furniture teaching laboratories. Another attraction was the introduction of the “Chemistry Exhibition” initiative, an extension project at the University of Pernambuco. The proposal, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Ana Carolina, is to approach science in a fun way.

“Until recently, we could not have imagined one day using a mobile phone, a laptop, a tablet, having all the robotics systems we have today, and having equipment like the one we invested in. We create the conditions for talent discovery “I hope everyone enjoys the benefits that the mobile educational laboratory, for example, offers to schools and takes advantage of this Science and Technology Week to learn more,” said Mayor Civaldo Albino.

“We encourage our students, who are currently in primary school, to go to university and perhaps awaken their taste for science. I hope this magic is not lost, because teaching and learning take place together in this context,” said Walesa Vitorino, Minister of Education of Garanhun.

During this week municipal schools will develop projects with students. On Friday (20), the program will end at the Colégio Municipal Padre Agobar Valença, when the teaching modules will highlight the work done.
