American Marissa Teague made history when she competed in the Miss Texas USA pageant last weekend. At 71, she became the oldest contestant in the beauty pageant.
The competition saw 75 competitors take part. Although she didn’t take home the crown, Marissa thanked her fans for their support on social media. “I never expected to make such an impact, but I’m excited to represent and inspire so many women of a certain age and young women to take charge of their health and fitness,” she said.
“Weightlifting is the key to staying young, strong and vibrant. We can resort to Botox, fillers, surgery and dye our hair, but if our body is weak and flabby, time wins! And we all want to be winners,” he added.
When her participation in the competition was announced, Marissa stated that her participation would serve to inspire women to find their best physical and mental version.
In addition to competing in fitness competitions, Marissa is a retired elementary school teacher and model who has appeared in television commercials. On social media, she shares her routines and photos with friends and family.
The Miss Texas pageant was held in Houston on June 21, 22 and 23. Arianna Ware, of Dallas, was the winner of the pageant and now advances to Miss USA as a representative of Texas.
