Midfielder Gustavo Scarpa arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday morning to perform with a team Atletico-MG The season begins in 2024. The player was the only reinforcement confirmed by the club so far. Upon his arrival, Scarpa praised Felipao, spoke about his expectations for the year, and said he hoped he would “fly” like Hulk and Paulinho.

Scarpa had already visited BH before the new year to see a house. After that, he went to São Paulo for New Year's Eve.

Now, he usually performs with the band on January 8th. Atletico acquired the rights to the midfielder from Nottingham Forest, from England, for five million euros (about R$27 million, in updated values).

Next week, on the 15th, the midfielder will be presented to the fans and the press. In the meantime, he will undergo medical examinations and tests, as part of the normal protocol for the start of the pre-season.

Regarding expectations for this year, the player stated that his desire is for titles, and that he wants to help the team start thinking about the Brazilian national team again, and stated that he wants to play at a high level, like Hulk and Paulinho.

Performance is far from expected in Europe

In Europe, Scarpa did not repeat the performance he presented in the Sao Paulo shirt. For Nottingham Forest, he made just 10 appearances before being loaned out to Olympiacos in Greece.

In Greek football, there were only 11 matches. Scarpa has yet to score or assist in Europe. The loan contract with Olympiacos lasts until June 2024. The contract with Nottingham Forest was scheduled to expire in June 2026.
