For the simulation, the Pantera K2 aircraft of the Brazilian Army was used. According to Army Aviation Pilot Capt. Yuri Freidas, these planes are needed for rescue missions.

“We use helicopters to access hard-to-reach places, use techniques like winch or restricted area landing to remove the injured person from the place and take him to the nearest aid station,” the captain said.

The exercise was to rescue an injured person. Soldiers near the “wounded” called for medical teams.

“We arrived and saw that he had a severed lower right limb and applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding, of course, all simulated. Given the severity of the injury, we called for an airmobile rescue,” explained Sergeant Daniel Fontana of the 52nd Jungle Infantry Battalion’s Health Department.

The flight crew consists of pilots and mechanics who provide the necessary care during the flight.

Core means integrated activity and circuit training in Portuguese. The operation results from a cooperation program signed between Brazil and the United States, and provides for a series of joint exercises until 2028.

Through the exercises, the troops of the two countries will share experiences on doctrine, techniques, tactics and defense practices, aiming to expand interoperability between the armies and improve ground military doctrine, the Brazilian military highlighted.

Completion of ‘Core 23’ is scheduled for November 16 at Companhia Especial de Fronteira (CEF) in Oyabok.
