On Saturday morning, 10/30, a woman who tried to swim died.
A woman who tried to swim with a group of immigrants on the U.S.-Mexico border was pronounced dead Saturday morning, Oct. 30, according to federal officials.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents were told by a group of about 70 people that a group of about 70 people were attempting to swim in the barrier between Tijuana, Mexico and the coast at Border Field State Park in San Diego, California, just before midnight on Friday.
When the woman was pulled out of the water, a group tried to revive her, but she did not respond. Aaron Heidge, chief agent of the CBP San Diego Sector, said: “This is another example of how smuggling systems use relentless tactics to increase their power and profit.” We will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible for this tragedy to justice. “
The agency said it had arrested 36 Mexicans across the border in a swimming group, including 13 rescued by the Coast Guard. They were all taken to the CBP station.
According to data released by the CBP on Thursday, fiscal year 2021, which ended Sept. 30, saw more immigrant deaths on the southern border of the United States than the previous year.
