Gas stoves may be at risk; Understand the reason for the possible ban in the United States

It is hard to imagine, especially for Brazilians, stoves working without the use of cooking gas. Even with more modern hardware, traditional models are still the favorites in our country.

Although it has been in homes for decades, this product, which is well known for food preparation, has been the target of a possible ban that should begin in the United States.

This is because stoves that use liquefied gas are among the products that emit the most polluting gases. Because of its daily use, these gases are emitted daily.

During the burning of natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases are released into the atmosphere. These gases are responsible for the global warming and climate changes that we are currently witnessing.

In addition, burning gas can release small amounts of air pollutants such as nitrogen oxides (NOx) and carbon monoxide (CO), which contribute to air pollution and affect the quality of the air we breathe.

Options for replacing a gas stove

Electric oven

Electric stoves obviously use electrical energy to heat the plates or coils where the pots are placed. They are widely available and easy to use, however their environmental impact depends on the source of electricity generation in the area.

Thus, if the power comes from renewable sources, such as solar, wind, or hydroelectric power, an electric fireplace is a more sustainable option.

induction cooker

Induction hobs use electromagnetic fields to directly heat metal pots or pans. It is highly efficient because it only heats the cooking pot, which reduces energy waste. However, they require specific utensils compatible with induction technology.
