Stellantis CEO for South America, Antonio Velosa, announced on Friday (22) an investment cycle worth R$2.5 billion until 2025 in the company’s unit in Porto Real (RJ).

Earlier on Friday, Reuters had published a report on the investment, in addition to the announcement of the production of a second car at the factory, the Citroën C3 AirCross, a seven-seat SUV, which the CEO also confirmed.

“We want to provide investments worth 2.5 billion reais by 2025,” Velosa said at a ceremony at Palacio Guanabara, the seat of Rio de Janeiro’s government, adding that a third vehicle, “still secret,” will also be manufactured at the Rio de Janeiro plant. Unit. The first was the C3 Compact, launched in 2021.

According to Stellantis, resources are dedicated to new product development, R&D and modernization of the industrial unit’s facilities, systems and equipment. The plant is also seen as strategic for the group’s development in South America.

Of the total amount, 330 million riyals were invested in developing a platform to be used in producing models of the group’s various brands, to be compatible with thermal, hybrid and electric engines.

The Stellantis Automotive Hub has been operating in Puerto Real since 2001. From 2011 to 2022, it received investments worth 7.6 billion reais. The group also owns two other factories in the country.
