During a meeting with the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Luciana Santos, the Swedish Ambassador, Karin Wallensten, stressed the importance of scientific cooperation and stated that the country is ready to strengthen bilateral relations with Brazil. The meeting took place on Monday (19), in Brasilia, and was attended by the Innovation and Research Consultant, Jacob Poulsen, and the Innovation and Research Consultant, Ana Carolina Boussakus.
According to the ambassador, cooperation between the two countries in the fields of science, technology and innovation is strategic and began in 2009. “We are aligned with projects in the fields of health, biodiversity, space, sustainable mining and sustainable cities. We want to strengthen and expand these projects, Karen said.
Minister Luciana Santos recalled the partnership with Embraer to produce the F-39 Gripen fighter by the Swedish company SAAB. The Gripen program expands the partnership between the two countries and assists in the re-industrialization project in Brazil. It is also an important ally in terms of innovation and technology in the country.”
Another point emphasized by Minister Luciana Santos is the Open Science programme. “The country has many successful initiatives such as open repositories and uniform public data access laws,” he explained. “The Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology can also contribute to this material,” the minister added.
