Barack Obama became the second US President to win an Emmy Award

This Saturday (3) Barack Obama accomplished a feat: he became the second President of the United States to win an Emmy! The politician won the award for his story on Netflix’s documentary series The World’s Most Fascinating National Parks. He did not participate in the ceremony to receive the statue from RuPaul.

The first – and, until then, only – US president, Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890-1969), received his statue while he was still the country’s ruler. Television was given a special award for appreciation of the politician. A year ago, he hosted the first televised news conference by a president in the nation’s history.

Barack Obama topped the celebrity category. He has worked with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, David Attenborough, W. Competed with Kamau Bell and Lupita Nyong’o. The former president was already nominated in 2016 for the documentary David Attenborough Meets President Obama – which showed his meeting with the renowned British journalist, curiously one of his rivals this year.

The World’s Most Fascinating National Parks is narrated by Barack Obama and described by Netflix as a “documentary series highlighting some of the planet’s most spectacular national parks”. The five-episode attraction is part of a deal the streaming platform signed with Michelle and Barack Obama in May 2018 to produce a variety of content.

The former president and former first lady are developing a fantasy series called Botkin, starring comedian Will Forte (from Saturday Night Live ). The comic thriller will feature a group of podcasters who decide to investigate the disappearance of three strangers in a seaside town in Ireland. However, they discover a much bigger and stranger story than they ever imagined.
