BAI Communications (BAI), soon to become Boldyn Networks, and Olympia London venue this week announced a new partnership for new multi-carrier 5G wireless infrastructure as part of the £1.3 billion London Venue regeneration.

As the official Distributed Antenna System (DAS) partner of Olympia, BAI will build the infrastructure that will enable 5G telecom and connectivity services throughout Olympia’s outdoor and indoor spaces, including entertainment venues, offices, hotels, performing arts schools, bars and restaurants.

BAI’s distributed antenna system is designed to be shared by all four UK mobile network operators to provide seamless connectivity for users.

The infrastructure reduces equipment and energy usage, which contributes to more sustainable and efficient means of providing reliable mobile connectivity to Olympia visitors.

Once complete, the “New Olympia” will be a global destination for culture, creativity and entertainment, with a wide variety of facilities and offerings.

The historic exhibition stands are being renovated with the addition of two world-famous hotels, over 25 bars and restaurants, an office, a new AEG music arena and a school for performing arts and theater that will generate an expected influx of over 10 million visitors annually.

The deal, which will enable high-speed connectivity throughout development, was negotiated by AEG’s global partnership team, which acts as sponsorship advisor for the project.

“We are delighted to announce our new partnership with Olympia, paving the way for unrivaled mobile connectivity at this iconic London location,” said Billy Darcy, Chief Executive Officer, BAI Communications UK & Ireland.

Lloyd Lee, Managing Partner of Yoo Capital, the real estate investment firm that owns Olympia, said he is excited to partner with BAI Communications to bring the best communications infrastructure to Olympia.

“As we transform this iconic landmark into a major cultural destination in London, seamless connectivity will be key to enriching the consumer experience across 14 acres,” he said.

“Since 1886, Olympia has been a showcase for great innovation and we are proud to partner with BAI to show how the best technology and innovation can play a powerful role in the future of great experiences at iconic destinations.”

Will Dowdy, Vice President of Global Partnerships for AEG Europe, believes that the renewal of Olympia will transform the place, create a global destination for culture, entertainment, music and the arts, and enhance its symbolic and historical significance.

“The key to this is ensuring visitors have access to high-speed mobile coverage and we are delighted to welcome BAI as a partner of Olympia, providing the best 5G communications infrastructure around the place.”
