The Ice Age Trail Alliance National Trail Day Fun Run & Hike is Saturday, June 5, in Lodi, WI

You are invited to have a blast at the Mammoth Fun Run & Hike on Saturday, June 5, 2010, in Lodi, Wisconsin.  This is a family oriented, donation only event on the unique Ice Age National Scenic Trail.  Expect a beautiful trail with lovely views, fantastic prizes, unofficial timing, homemade goodies, free massages, & good times for all!

Participants can chose a 5 kilometer trail run or hike, or a 10 kilometer run on both road & trail.  Registration is from 8:00 to 8:45am at Doctor’s Park (on the corner of HWY 113 & County Road K) in Lodi, WI.  Events begin at 9am.  Last shuttle is at 8:45 am to the 5 kilometer events, which start at the Ice Age Trail kiosk on Lodi Springfield Road.  The 10 kilometer run starts behind Doctor’s Park.

National Trails Day (NTD) is a yearly celebration that occurs all over the country on the first Saturday of June.  NTD is typically hosted by volunteers who want to promote fun & fitness on local trails.  Hiking, bird & wildlife watching, picnicking, or simply taking in a sunset are perfect ways for people to enjoy the local lce Age National Scenic Trail.  Hiking, running, or participating in trail building & maintenance projects helps to improve fitness & provides hours of fun.  Plus, the price is right!  Time on the trail is FREE!

The Lodi Valley Chapter of the IATA is hosting the June 5 Mammoth Fun Run & Hike.  Thousands of members volunteer with the Ice Age Trail Alliance in its mission to create, support & protect a thousand-mile foot trail tracing the Ice Age formations across Wisconsin. Currently, more than 600 miles are completed. The Ice Age National Scenic Trail, which is located entirely within the state of Wisconsin, is one of only eleven National Scenic Trails. Wisconsin’s Department of Tourism has recognized it as the state’s number one outdoor recreational resource.
