The Republican proposal would defund parts of the government on 2 dates: January 19 and February 2, 2024. “This 2-step continuing resolution is a necessary bill to put House Republicans in a better position to fight for conservative victories.”, Johnson said. Johnson’s plan does not establish additional funding for the government to encourage aid to other countries, such as Israel and Ukraine, to deal with conflicts in their regions.
The US House and Senate must reach an agreement on the spending plan by Friday (November 17, 2023) or the country risks a government shutdown.
