Twitch will limit lives showing intimate parts for a long time

Twitch has announced another change to its rules surrounding sexual content, limiting the “prolonged” display of private parts during live streams. The new guidelines come into effect on Friday (29) and may result in the suspension or ban of channels, as well as blocking access to certain functions of the platform.

The company itself did not speak directly about this matter, but the new rules appear to be aimed at curbing recent trends in posting suggestive content on Twitch. In one, content creators use their bodies as a green screen to design games and other materials, while in another, they go about their lives sitting on transparent chairs with cameras pointed directly at their genitals.

“Our Community Guidelines are designed to help make Twitch a welcoming place. Content [na plataforma] It's always evolving, and we want to make sure our rules work as expected and accommodate emerging behaviors. As necessary, we make updates to achieve these behavioral changes and provide clarity to the community about what is permitted. Starting Friday, March 29, content that focuses on intimate body parts will not be allowed for an extended period of time. We've included additional details and definitions in our Community Guidelines.”

According to Twitch, cleavage, buttocks and thigh are considered intimate parts. They can appear in videos as long as they are covered by clothing. On the other hand, the streaming platform did not say exactly how long is considered “extended” under the terms of use.

Tough quarter on Twitch

The constant updates to the rules around sexual content began in December last year, when the first radical change came to Twitch's terms of use. The network even allowed artistic nudes to be brought to life, only to be retracted after two days, while trying to find a way to increase creators' freedom, reduce disproportionate punishments, and, above all, keep the site safe for minors.

While the original focus of the new rules was on artists, who could open up their lives through anatomy studies or creating material containing nudity, they soon opened the doors to a flood of sexually suggestive content. The community has been harsh in its criticism, while Twitch has revised the guidelines and continues to try to adapt the rules to find balance.
