As a result, it became cheaper and sold well again. But the big difference came at the beginning of 2023, with the launch of the track version. The manual 1.0 version, which focuses on direct sales, arrives to replace the biggest success in Volkswagen's history in Brazil, the Gol, which was discontinued after decades in operation.
Acceptance was good. With the release of the Track, Polo begins to lead the passenger car segment – ahead of the Onix and HB20. Furthermore, in 2023, it surpassed Strada in the monthly score on some occasions – including in December.
But the Fiat model managed to maintain its lead last year, and also opened 2024 ahead of it – although it fought well with the Polo in January and February. Now, the Volkswagen model has finally managed to take the lead.
Fighting in March
According to data released by Jato Dynamics, the Strada had 9,990 registrations in March. As a result, it was almost 2,000 copies behind the Polo, which sold 11,943 copies.
Adding March's results to those of January and February, the Strada accumulates 26,580 registered units in 2023. Therefore, it is now 683 copies behind the Polo. The small flaw shows that the battle is very far from being resolved. There is a strong possibility that it will be ferocious all year round.
