The deadline for individual small business owners to move to the new Service Invoice platform ends 9/1

Starting next Friday, September 1st, all MEIs who issue electronic service invoices (NFS-e), through the Manaus Nota municipal system, must compulsorily switch to the new version created by the Brazilian Federal Revenue Authority (RFB). To register, the MEI can access the electronic address: www.gov.br/nfse/pt-br/mei.

Undersecretary of Municipal Revenue for the Secretariat of Finance and Information Technology (Semef), Arminio Pontes, indicated that this is the latest deadline set by the federal government, which has already extended the deadline twice. “This is a simple National Management Committee decision. The IRS has already extended that deadline on other occasions. The immigration deadline is now final and expires next Friday,” the undersecretary noted.

This measure entered into force with the approval of CGSN Decision No. 171/2022, which amends the text of Decision No. 140/2018 of the Simple National Management Committee (CGSN).

More information about the system can be found on the MEI Electronic Service Invoice Portal — Electronic Service Invoice Portal (www.gov.br). Information and details regarding the amendments introduced under CGSN Decision No. 171/2022 are available on the Simples Nacional page (Farm.gov.br).

Step by Step

When in doubt, Brazil’s Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae) and the Federal Revenue have created a guide for small and medium-sized enterprises with step-by-step instructions for using the new NFS-e issuer, in either the web or mobile version. The guide is available at: www.gov.br/nfse/pt-br/ebook-cadastramento-e-emissao-nfs-e-ago-2023.pdf.
