Thanks to advancements in technology, users can now block receiving SMS messages from unknown numbers on their devices. Both Android and iOS offer features to block spam text messages. However, users should pay attention to some issues before blocking sending SMS via numbers.

The first step is to make sure that the number you want to block is actually unrelated. This is because by blocking the number in question, messages will no longer be received. The second point to note is to save the relevant information before blocking, as the action will delete the messages sent from the number in question.

Block unwanted SMS

For iOS devices

iPhone users who want to block SMS from unknown numbers should do the following steps:

• In the Messages app, choose Chat with the unwanted number;
• Click the contact icon, then click “Information”;
• Choose the “Block this caller” option.

By clicking on this option, the user will block any type of call that the number may attempt. This way it will not be possible to receive messages or calls from the number in question. Furthermore, the blocked contact will not know of the blocking, nor will they know whether their messages are being delivered or not.

For Android devices

In the case of Android devices, the steps are different, as they require the user to do the following:

• Open the messaging app;
• Select the number you want to block;
• Open the drop-down menu;
• Select “Block and report spam”;
• Confirm the block.
