Lucas (Fresno) travels to Fresno, USA and starts a campaign for a statue

A Fresno It’s real at Fresnoverse! The band’s lead singer, Lucas SilveiraHe broke the internet this Friday by posting a photo in front of a billboard in Fresno, USA.

The municipality is located in California, about 300 km north of the capital Sacramento and south of the city of Los Angeles. That inspired the name of the band formed in Porto Alegre in 1999 precisely because Lucas invented the word “fun”.

Later, he and the other members discovered that Fresno is the name of a river in Portugal and the Spanish word for ash tree. No wonder the band’s second album is called River, city, tree (2004).

After posting on Twitter about his visit to the American city, Lucas Silveira wondered if it wasn’t time for the local mayor to return the “respect”:

Can we convince the mayor of Fresno, CA to put a statue of us in the town square? We pay for the statue.

Lucas created a publication in English for official organizations that can help in this “mission”, and this post already has more than a thousand likes. In good humor, the group’s fans joked that the band was “ungrateful”:

But they already honored you by naming the city, they want a statue too??
