Two Brazilian cities appear on the list of the “100 Best Cities in the World,” an annual ranking created by Resonance Consultancy. For the seventh consecutive year, London has been voted the best city on the planet.
São Paulo was considered the 33rd city on the planet, with the focus on gastronomy and culture in the capital, São Paulo. In terms of “restaurants”, Brazil’s largest city was ahead of cities such as London and New York, and was ranked as the fourth largest tourist destination in the world. The report also highlights the city’s diversity, with the largest population of Italian descent outside of Italy and of Japanese descent outside of Japan, as well as a large community from the Middle East.
Rio de Janeiro, on the other hand, appears at number 54, mainly praised for its “scenic beaches and vibrant samba nightlife”. The gorgeous city ranks 32nd in a ranking of the best nightlife on the planet, with notable attractions such as the Museum of Image and Sound, Tijuca Forest, and Crest the Redeemer, as well as the Sugar Loaf Cable Car.
Only two other South American cities are mentioned: Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, at 44th, and Santiago, the capital of Chile, at 70th.
In this year’s edition, Kiev, Ukraine was named “Honorary City of the Year 2023”, in recognition of the efforts made during the Russian invasion. Courage and resilience were highlighted, as well as maintaining services and supporting residents.
