Corinthians is not aware of the sale of Mantuan to Zenit, but sees a deal as imminent

Corinthians does not recognize the agreement to buy Zenit from Russia’s Gustavo Mantuan. Last Wednesday, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Russian Club, Alexander Medvedev, in an interview that the negotiations have already ended. However, Timão’s management ensures that they will still be sitting down to talk about the sale, despite seeing it as imminent.

He also heard a report Meu Timão, the talks between the clubs are not over yet and no amount has been set to sell the youngster. The leaders of Alfingro should meet in the next few days with Fernando Garcia, a businessman from Mantuan, to determine the future of the athlete.

The sale, it was said, was treated as imminent by Timão. In addition to the athlete’s desire to stay in the Russian club, the salary offered by Zenit is much higher than what Corinthians can offer.

Now, the two parties will agree on negotiation values. It is noteworthy that Corinthians transferred 50% of the economic rights to the youngster to Zenit in exchange for his permanent acquisition of Yuri Alberto at the end of last year. Now, Corinthians have another 40% to negotiate in this new conversation.

In the interview, Medvedev said that Mantuan will continue as a player for the Russian club, noting that the parties have already reached an agreement and that everything is on the right track for the striker to stay in Russia. In addition, Mantuan already has a scheduled trip to return to Russia and start the pre-season at the club.

Last season, Mantuan played 28 matches for Zenit, eight in the starting lineup. He found the net six times, in addition to providing four assists. The young man, who appeared at the base of the Corinthians, won the Russian championship title together with the team.

Mantuan has been with Corinthians since 2011 and made his professional debut in September 2020, in the match against Sport, for Brazil. The striker has made 43 first-team appearances and was one of the key players in Vitor Pereira’s squad for the first half of 2022.
