Last week, the federal government announced that Caixa Econômica Federal will launch a new type of loan through Caixa Tem, an app used to pay various social benefits.
The bank will offer a micro-credit of up to R$1,000 to individuals, including those with a negative name. A loan of up to 3,000 BRL will also be given to those who are Small Business Owners (MEI).
The new line of credit, called SIM Digital, is expected to serve 4.5 million people in the first 12 months of operation, according to the federal government.
Microcredit is aimed at individual entrepreneurs – whether individuals or MEI institutions – who carry out a productive activity with an annual income or total revenue of R$ 360,000. According to the temporary measure signed by President Jair Bolsonaro, the credit will reach R$1,000 for individuals (unofficial) and up to R$3,000 for legal entities (MEI).
In the case of individuals the interest rate is 1.95% per month and the loan can be divided into 24 installments. You’ll get MEI credit interest of 1.99% per month, also offloading in up to 24 installments.

Caixa Econômica Federal President, Pedro Guimarães, said the new type of loan will be available from March 28.
How to get the loan
For individuals, the contract can be concluded through the Caixa Tem app (available for Android And the iOS). After downloading the application, you need to update your Caixa Tem registration. For this, the application asks the user to scan the identity document, send a “selfie” and report the monthly income.
Credit must be requested for those who are MEI at bank branches. For appointment, the interested party must have an account with Caixa, have 12+ months of billing as MEI and provide proof of residency, personal and company documents.
