A patient undergoes obesity surgery after his weight reached 36 kg and he suffered from severe anemia News

A São Paulo inland resident had to have her bariatric surgery reversed after developing severe anemia. Ana Paula Santana da Cunha, 42, lost 60 kilograms in a year and six months, and weighs 36 kilograms.

Difficulty eating, her extreme thinness, and her body’s inability to absorb vitamins forced the housewife to have the surgery reversed, on Monday (11/3), in a hospital in the city of São Jose do Rio Preto, in the city of São Paulo.

As a result of the anemia, Ana Paula was unable to stand, nor was she able to write or speak properly, requiring caregivers. The patient's diet consists of soup and vitamin supplements. “It was as if my stomach was always full. It fermented, and as long as he did not vomit, the discomfort did not go away,” Anna told the g1 portal.

She said that the difficulties began three months after the operation. In 2022, she underwent three surgeries to remove complications, but the problems were not resolved.
