When the Lodi Valley Farmers’ Market team selects a theme for each week have no fear that we will be true to our promise, really true, so true you can’t help but be amazed. Last week we had our wonderful Master Gardener, Pam Sheeks, demonstrate how to build a rain barrel. She brought along a discarded container, spout, glue, drill and, of course, the rain. Ah, but never underestimate the hardiness and determination of Pam, our vendors, the market team, and you-our shoppers. All were there giving 150% effort. Never will rain stop our mission. One slight drawback for Pam, however. When it came time for her to crawl into the rain barrel and place the mechanics inside, it was too full of rain. Ah, the credibly of the Lodi Market….what we promise you we deliver whatever the weather..
Speaking of delivery, the rain barrel will find a new home with Del Goetz. Lucky man. He was the winner of the drawing. We also have drawings on the 5th Friday of the month. Remember, there is no charge for you to throw your name in the pot.
Great day at the market on Friday, in spite of the rain, 25 vendors, a hundred plus shoppers and garden goodies galore. First sweet corn arrived, raspberries, flowers, honey, popcorn, plants, herbs, zucchini, cucumbers, onions, carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, spinach and yes leeks. To add to the mix, this Friday, you will be serenaded by the Main Street Melodies. Great women, great songs, great for your shopping. Music and food. Sounds like a recipe for romance to me.
Speaking of romance. Rumor has it that Larry our favorite leek (aka Larry the leaker) plans to make his appearance for Susie Duck Days. He needs to prepare, so he can be at least as good looking as Susie. You know, they just might be good friends. Some similar traits here. Lots of “look a likes” surrounding them.
See you at the market on Friday…….
The Lodi Valley Farmer’s Market is held on Friday afternoons from 2 – 6 May through October at the Northern Edge Restaurant, located at N1430 Highway 113, Lodi, WI.
