Children often ask Santa Claus for dolls of superheroes such as Batman, Superman and Spider-Man. But this Christmas, young people living in Venezuela received muscle dolls from the country’s president, Nicolás Maduro.
The Super Bigote, a reference to the Venezuelan dictator’s mustache, is the main character in a cartoon shown only on state television. First Lady Cilia Flores also gained superpowers and became Supercilita.
The duo faces their arch-rival in the episodes: the President of the United States. In the adventure, the villain sends money and weapons to the allies with the aim of influencing Venezuela, and the superheroes must act to protect the nation.
According to Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy Rodriguez, the government distributed more than 13 million gifts to celebrate December 25, including dolls of President Maduro and the first lady.
