Tourists from Canada, Australia and the United States must provide a visa to enter Brazil

Tourists from Canada, Australia and the United States must provide a visa to enter Brazil

Visa requirements for tourists entering Brazil from Canada, Australia and the United States (USA) apply. January, 10. The initial deadline for document collection was October 1, 2023, but it was extended.

In a note, the Ministry of Tourism takes into account the date of arrival on Brazilian soil – therefore, tourists from the three countries arriving in Brazil by January 9 are exempted from the issuance of visas.

The requirement, previously valid for Japanese, Australian, Canadian and North American tourists, was extended following the Brazil-Japan Agreement, which granted reciprocal visa exemptions for short stays (up to 90 days).

According to the ministry, it is necessary to make changes in the bidding process for hiring a company to provide electronic visa service to all three countries. “The new order will be issued as soon as its processing is complete.”

“It is important to highlight that the Brazilian government has renewed its interest in negotiating visa waiver agreements with the three countries on the basis of reciprocity and equality between states,” the ministry concluded.
