The Nobel Prize Organizing Committee stated that it is deeply concerned about this issue.

Narcissus received the Nobel Prize on October 6th. The award was considered a criticism by the organizing committee of the Iranian political system, as the Iranian government criticized the organizers for trying to interfere in internal issues and politicize the human rights issue.

According to Harrana Agency, the Iranian authorities prevented Narges from going to the hospital for heart treatment because of her refusal to wear the Islamic hijab. The agency did not mention the source of the story.

The Iranian judicial system did not mention anything about this case.

The Nobel Peace Prize 2023 goes to Iranian Narges Mohammadi

On October 29 and 30, Narges and a number of women detained in Evin Prison in Iran protested against prison authorities because the activist was prevented from going to the hospital to receive treatment, according to a statement from her family sent to Reuters.

“She is willing to risk her life by not wearing the forced hijab, even for medical treatment,” said the November 1 statement, written before the hunger strike was announced.

This is the third time Narges has served time in Evin Prison since 2012.

Her current sentence is 12 years in prison for propaganda against the Islamic Republic.
