The Ministry of Health, the National Council of Health Trustees (CONAS) and the National Council of Municipal Health Trustees (CONASEMS) have approved the national program to reduce waiting lists for elective surgery, supplementary examinations and specialist consultations. Approved on Thursday (26), during the first regular meeting of the Tripartite Directors Committee (CTI) for 2023.
According to the Ministry of Health, R$600 million is expected for the program, which are guaranteed resources in the transitional phase of the center. The first diversion of resources, approximately R$200 million, will be directed to elective surgeries.
“What we are discussing with states and municipalities is a program to combat various problems, and from our experience, since SUS has been working together for more than 20 years, we will start with surgeries, since there are countless experiences in technology management in this regard. At the same time, we will discuss, in a three-way manner , How to build more structural changes. For this, we need to know this list of actions and allow the user to interact, through tools of transparency, “said Minister for Specialized Health Care (SAES), Helvisio Magalhaes.
The minister added that the goals are to create a national list of patients awaiting medical procedures, standardize the information bank, and organize the delivery of services with the support of tools, such as telehealth, and protocols for access to specialized care. The minister indicated that the northern region will enjoy a different treatment, due to the difficulty in finding health professionals.
In the coming days, the decree establishing the program will be published. With publication, states must refer action plans to the Ministry of Health for approval and transfer of funds.
