The Gulbenkian Institute opens its doors to show what’s behind the science

The Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC) opens to the public on November 26, an open day that allows you to clarify doubts, talk to scientists and experience the practice of science.

“Every day, approximately 400 people develop their work at the IGC’s Oeiras campus. Revealing what is behind their scientific work, and bringing science to the general public, is the starting point for this open day,” says the institute. In a statement.

According to the intergovernmental panel, science has occupied an important place in the pandemic response and promoting actions that demonstrate the work of scientists, the way they do it, and its impact on society is “crucial to clarifying doubts, combating misinformation and inspiring future scientists.”

The open day takes place on November 26 between 10:00 and 17:00, at IGC, in Oeiras.

According to the institute, all participants, whether younger or older, are invited to do and experiment with science in a program that includes various activities such as “talking with scientists”, “science in three minutes”, “visiting laboratories”, “immersive room in 3D microscopy and lighting” , among other things.

According to IGC, music will also be part of the programme, with a concert pending, because science and music are “two pillars of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation”.
