Hollywood's latest musical biopic, “Bob Marley: One Love,” continues to do well at the box office, unlike other North American releases. The Paramount production grossed US$13.5 million in its second weekend from 3,925 theaters in the United States and Canada, a 53% drop from its debut. “One Love” was a box office success, grossing $71.1 million domestically and $120 million worldwide.

Meanwhile, “Madame Deia” was in decline. Sony's superhero movie slipped down the charts to No. 4 in its second week with just $5.6 million from 4,013 theaters. The news is bad overseas too, with a worldwide box office total of US$87.3 million to date for the production, which was made on a budget of over 200 million.

Hilary Swank's inspirational drama “Ordinary Angels” came in at No. 3 with a $6.2 million show from 3,020 locations, while director Ethan Coen's comedy thriller “Drive-Away Dolls”) was #8 with $2.5 million from 2,280 locations. . Neither made their debut in the country.

“Ordinary Angels” didn't exactly set the box office on fire, but the Lionsgate film reportedly has a modest budget in the low double-digit range. That should help offset its single-digit debut. Audiences — 60% female and 91% over 25 — responded enthusiastically to the film's uplifting themes, giving it an A+ rating on CinemaScore, a survey taken at US theater exits.
