The state competition completes ten years to awaken the taste of scientific research among children and youth

The Government of Ceará, through the Secretariat for Science, Technology and Higher Education (Secitece), has announced that registration is open for the new edition of the Ceará Faz Ciência Show. The competition that awakens the taste of scientific research among children and young people receives exclusive entries through Siteuntil June 27.

In 2022, the fair completes ten years, transporting students and teachers from public and private schools across the state. The theme of this year’s edition is “The Bicentennial of Independence: 200 Years of Science, Technology and Innovation in Brazil”, the same that the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI) has set for the National Science and Technology Week.

The competition will include regional stages, where the state’s eight total regions will compete with each other. Businesses will be selected from the metropolitan area, West Coast, Sobral/Epiapaba, Sertão dos Inhamunes, Batorrete, Central Sertão, East Coast/Jaguarpe and Carrere/Central South.

The Grand Country Qualifiers, with winners announced, will take place during the Knowledge Fair, in Fortaleza.

Selection steps

Each team can be formed by up to two students and a mentor teacher from Elementary II (year eight and nine) and middle/professional (year one and two).

The evaluation panel is made up of professors who are experts in education, research and the scientific method, who will judge the business using criteria such as rhetoric, innovation, entrepreneurial vision, use of inclusive technologies, and social relevance. Teams ranked first and second will be awarded with CNPq Scholarships. Students will receive R$ 100.00 for 12 months and mentors will receive a grant of R$ 550.00 for six months. All teams will receive participation certificates.
