During the match, Botafogo fans protested, raised banners in the stands and booed. As the players walked up to warm up, some fans threw popcorn on the field.

With this result, the Rio team left the group of four for the first time. Now, they will have to win the final round to return to the group that qualifies directly for the CONMEBOL Libertadores group stage. On the other hand, with Bahia’s defeat, Cruzeiro no longer has a chance of relegation to Serie B.
