The Acre Regional Council of Medicine (CRM-AC) has opened an investigation into the behavior of doctors who mocked a diagnosis of Covid-19 by the Minister of the Environment, Marina Silva, and made comments against vaccines, according to printouts from conversations in a group of professionals.

The prints show conversations that will be from a group of doctors in which Jorge Lucas da Fonseca, Grace Monica Alvim Coelho and Nilton Chavez make fun of Marina Silva’s infection, even though she has had doses of the vaccine against Covid-19. The Minister was diagnosed with Covid-19 last Saturday (6) and was hospitalized due to the illness. On Wednesday (10) I was discharged from the hospital.

Jorge Lucas sent news of the minister’s diagnosis with the caption: “Wow, wasn’t she vaccinated?” Then the same doctor confirms the comment, saying, “Didn’t you take the vaccine?”

Then another professional, Grace Mônica Alvim Coelho, said: “Things in life…and vaccination!”. Finally, another doctor, Nelton Chavis, adds: “I hope the covid virus is OK.” Grace served as Minister of Health of Acre between 1999 and 2004, under the leadership of Jorge Viana.

Shortly after the conversation was published, the Confederation of Acre Doctors (Sindmed) stated that the group in which the messages were sent is not managed by the entity, and emphasized that “the only official group is called ‘affiliate’, with clear rules that prohibit political appearances, and only allow matters Medical and trade union discussions and disclosure of union information.” (See full note at the end of this text)

“The determination will include as a standard the rules and standards established by the Code of Ethical Professional Conduct and the Code of Medical Ethics,” the memorandum says.

What do doctors say

To Rede Amazônica Acre, gynecologist Grace Mônica Alvim Coelho said that what she wrote was not speaking directly to Minister Marina Silva, and that she did not see the need for a position on the issue.

The Council of the Acre State Medical Association (Sindmed-AC) reported that the “United Doctors” group is not managed by the entity. Only medical matters, trade union discussions and disclosure of union information are allowed.
