CRM-AC is investigating doctors who mocked Marina Silva’s health in leaked publications | acre

The Acre Regional Council of Medicine (CRM-AC) has opened an investigation into the behavior of doctors who mocked a diagnosis of Covid-19 by the Minister of the Environment, Marina Silva, and made comments against vaccines, according to printouts from conversations in a group of professionals.

The conversation was leaked on Sunday (7), but CRM only took a stand on Wednesday (10), three days later.

The prints show conversations that will be from a group of doctors in which Jorge Lucas da Fonseca, Grace Monica Alvim Coelho and Nilton Chavez make fun of Marina Silva’s infection, even though she has had doses of the vaccine against Covid-19. The Minister was diagnosed with Covid-19 last Saturday (6) and was hospitalized due to the illness. On Wednesday (10) I was discharged from the hospital.

Jorge Lucas sent news of the minister’s diagnosis with the caption: “Wow, wasn’t she vaccinated?” Then the same doctor confirms the comment, saying, “Didn’t you take the vaccine?”

Then another professional, Grace Mônica Alvim Coelho, said: “Things in life…and vaccination!”. Finally, another doctor, Nelton Chavis, adds: “I hope the covid virus is OK.” Grace served as Minister of Health of Acre between 1999 and 2004, under the leadership of Jorge Viana.

Through a note, CRM confirmed the investigation, and stated that the operation will be carried out in accordance with the Code of Ethical Professional Operation and Code of Medical Ethics. (See the full note at the end of this text.)

Shortly after the conversation was published, the Confederation of Acre Doctors (Sindmed) stated that the group in which the messages were sent is not managed by the entity, and emphasized that “the only official group is called ‘affiliate’, with clear rules that prohibit political appearances, and only allow matters Medical and trade union discussions and disclosure of union information.” (See full note at the end of this text)

“The determination will include as a standard the rules and standards established by the Code of Ethical Professional Conduct and the Code of Medical Ethics,” the memorandum says.

To Rede Amazônica Acre, gynecologist Grace Mônica Alvim Coelho said that what she wrote was not speaking directly to Minister Marina Silva, and that she did not see the need for a position on the issue.

However, he explained that what he wrote about the vaccine is that vaccination does not prevent new cases of infection from occurring. However, according to the Doctor, the printout was taken out of context and used to attack her. Doctors Jorge Lucas and Nilton Chavez did not return the call.

Marina was hospitalized last Saturday (6) at the Instituto do Coração (InCor), in São Paulo, with a positive photo of Covid-19. Via Twitter, the politician stated that her symptoms are under control and she is receiving adequate medical care in the capital, Sao Paulo.

On the morning of Wednesday (10), InCor reported, through a medical bulletin, that the Minister was discharged at 9:30 am (Brasilian time), stressing that “the patient has a full vaccination schedule for covid-19, and this contributed to the control of the situation.” And according to the bulletin, she still has to stay at home to rest, and she will be able to resume activities next week.

“In light of information published in the press about comments supposedly made by doctors working in the state of Acre regarding the entry of the Minister of Environment, Marina Silva, the Regional Council of Medicine in Acre (CRM-AC) decided to open an investigation to investigate the facts.

The account as standard will have the rules and standards established by the Code of Ethical Professional Conduct and the Code of Medical Ethics.

CRM-AC reiterates its mission to ensure the ethical practice of the profession, with an emphasis on evaluating the physician-patient relationship, advocating for physician-patient independence and respect for confidentiality of information.

On this occasion, the CRM-AC also wishes a short recovery to Minister Marina Silva and all patients affected by covid-19.

The Council of the Acre State Medical Association (Sindmed-AC) reported that the “United Doctors” group is not managed by the entity. Only medical matters, trade union discussions and disclosure of union information are allowed.

The members of this union also show their solidarity with the Minister of the Environment, Marina Silva, and wish her recovery.
