On Wednesday (14), Anac signed two letters of intent to obtain certification for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles. Agreements have been signed with the European Civil Aviation Authority, EASA, and the UK Civil Aviation Authority, CAA-UK.
Although it is in the initial stage of development, eVTOL is already a trend in air transportation that should become a reality in the coming years, which is why Anac is already studying the regulations for the certification of these air vehicles. The agreements signed between the authorities during the conference make the official intention of joint work between the aforementioned civil aviation authorities to build e-VTOL certification, exchange experiences and work collaboratively.
eVTOL should achieve improvements in air transportation over short and medium distances, greater integration with cities, lower noise levels (compared to helicopters) and alignment with sustainable practices, with zero emissions of pollutants. In Brazil, there is a growing interest on the part of airlines to operate this new technology.
The agreements were signed during the EASA-FAA Safety Conference, which took place in Cologne, Germany, and was attended by the world’s major regulatory agencies.
