Three civilians were killed and nine others were injured in an Israeli air strike in Damascus, Syrian official media reported in the early hours of Tuesday (1), citing a military source.
Earlier, state television said in a statement that it “mourns news anchor Safaa Ahmed, who was martyred in the Israeli aggression on the capital, Damascus.”
State media added that the Israeli airstrike also caused severe damage to private property.
Syrian air defenses intercepted “hostile targets” in the vicinity of Damascus three times in a row in one night, following explosions heard in the capital.
When asked about the aforementioned attack, the Israeli military said it does not comment on foreign media reports.
Israel has been carrying out attacks on targets linked to Iran in Syria for years, but has intensified such incursions since the October 7 attack last year by the Palestinian Hamas movement on Israeli territory.
