Several media outlets have withdrawn the first official photo of Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, which has been published since undergoing abdominal surgery, amid fears the image has been tampered with.
On Sunday, the Associated Press, Reuters, Getty Images and Agence France-Presse issued warnings against the use of the photo of Kate and her three children, which was published by Kensington Palace.
The Associated Press said the photo was removed because upon “close examination, it appears the source doctored the image” and the photo showed “an asymmetry in the alignment” of the left hand of Kate's daughter, Princess Charlotte.
Agence France-Presse said the image could not be used because it had been “edited,” without providing further details. Reuters said it removed the image “after post-publication review.”
The photo shows the princess sitting, surrounded by Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis and Prince George, with the latter wrapping his arms around her.
The photo was posted on the Prince and Princess of Wales' social media accounts along with a message from Catherine that read: “Thank you for your well wishes and continued support over the past two months.
“We wish everyone a Happy Mother’s Day.”
