From January 8, 2025, Brazilian tourists wishing to visit the United Kingdom must obtain an electronic authorization known as an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) in addition to a valid passport.
This new requirement will apply to travel of up to six months and will be a prerequisite for entry into England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. British and Irish citizens are exempt, while the regime for EU citizens starts in April 2025.
How to request an ETA
The process of obtaining an ETA is simple and can be done through the official British Government website or app. Passengers will need:
– Documents: Valid Brazilian passport.
= Ratio: £10 (about R$73).
– Information: Fill the form with personal details like address and employment.
After request, approval may take up to 72 hours. If the authorization is rejected, you can correct the highlighted issues and make a new request.
Requirements and validity
All passengers, including children and infants, must have an ETA. The authorization is valid for two years, allowing multiple entries into the country, but a new passport will require a new ETA.
For students and professionals
For those planning to study or work in the UK, obtaining a visa is essential. Until March 2025, a gross annual income of £38,700 is usually required, in addition to proof of English proficiency through the IELTS test.
With these new rules, Brazilians need to pay attention to ensure a smooth and hassle-free trip to the United Kingdom.
